Join an exciting opportunity to enter an on-going weekly
schema mode therapy group for women & men. Led by an expert
therapist, you will learn with and from other people, and
better understand your own patterns of thoughts and behavior
that may be holding you back from the life you want.
In group, you can learn how to develop and maintain fulfilling
relationships while breaking your cycle of self-defeating
behaviors. Many people in group therapy may be experiencing
or grappling with some of the same issues you are---issues
or frustrations that can be beneficial to share with others.
One aim of schema group therapy may be to help you socialize
better---and it can accomplish this---but that is not necessarily
the main goal. Schema mode group therapy can help you identify
and deal with your emotional blocks and limitations, enabling
you to relate better to others, to gain more inner comfort,
and to realize your own potential.
Each week in group session, you identify unhealthy patterns
you may be repeating, and practice healthier alternatives
within the safe environment group therapy provides.
A group consists of 6 to 10 members meeting each week who
have things in common and who can be helpful partners for
each other’s growth. The therapist guides the discussion,
providing a productive ex-amination of the issues or concerns
affecting each member. Group members are encouraged to talk
with each other spontaneously and honestly. Much of the learning
comes from the interactions between mem-bers as they work
to defeat negative thoughts, manage emotions, and develop
healthy behaviors.
- Schema group therapy serves as a microcosm of reality
and is an ideal place to solve real issues. Week after week,
you create your own impasses in the group, in virtually
the same ways as outside the group, blocking friends, lovers,
associates, and relatives. Group therapy is a theatre of
study and change
- When you speak in a group, words can echo more loudly
in your mind. You can also see how other members respond
to your behavior
- You may use group as a main treatment, or work simultaneously
in both group and individual ther-apy to stimulate growth
in mutually complementary ways
- Understand your feelings of emptiness in your current
relationships, and master how to get your needs met
at home & at work
- Confront ways you feel inferior---change your perceptions
or improve yourself in those areas
- Learn how to stop your overly critical thoughts
of yourself or others, & confront people in a
healthy way who are critical of you
- Confront feeling inferior or different in group
settings, and gain more confidence in social arenas
(public speaking, parties, dating, etc.)
- Learn how to avoid ambivalent, unstable romantic
partners and stick with partners who are stable and
committed without clinging or becoming jealous during
normal separations
- Balance your work and personal life to reduce the
constant pressure you feel, and enjoy your successes
- Master expressing and managing your emotions. Develop
& deepen intimacy and connection you experience
in your relationships

Group therapy is a widely used treatment option, practiced
for more than 50 years, and is as effective as individual
therapy. As you meet and interact with other group members,
the whole group learns to work on shared problems--one of
the most beneficial aspects of group therapy. Schema group
therapy ad-dresses feelings of isolation, depression, and
anxiety, and can help you make significant changes to feel
better.
- Schema group therapy is affordable, and is reimbursable
by most health insurance plans with an out-of-network benefit
(Check with your insurance carrier for specific details)
